White Bedding & Muddy Paws

I love a pretty bed. The kind with eighteen pillows that have to come off every night and get placed just-so before I head into the world each morning. The kind you’d see on the cover of a style magazine, winning awards for “Best in Pillows & Perfection.”

For me, a bed isn’t just for sleeping—it’s my safe and snuggly sanctuary. Making it every morning grounds me, and slipping into it at night eases away the worries of the day. Over the years, I’ve experimented with many styles and colors, but right now, I’m fully in my “White Phase.” Crisp, timeless, and oh-so-classic—it’s a fan favorite.

When Gus came into my life, he made it very clear from day one that my bed was his bed, too. There was no negotiation.

At first, my P-Barn snobbery struggled with muddy paws and crisp white sheets. Every time he jumped up after a walk, I felt my heart stop. Fashion vs. function had officially collided.

After one particularly muddy day—when even a sink bath couldn’t save my sanity—I decided I needed a backup plan. Something pretty but practical. Something washable, affordable, and not heartbreaking if Gus claimed his throne.

So, I peeked at Amazon. Honestly, I didn’t expect much—just something “good enough” to get me by. But let me tell you, I was delighted. I found bedding that was:

  • White, of course (because I’m not ready to give that phase up – other colors are available, too, for your viewing pleasure).
  • Crazy soft—passing my “luxury test” with flying colors.
  • Easily washable—no tears if Gus brings the outdoors in.
  • Budget-friendly—shockingly affordable compared to P-Barn.

Now, Gus and I are both content and happy. I have my layers, my pillows, my cozy sanctuary… and he has his throne. Win-win.

Building a bed that feels luxurious doesn’t have to cost a fortune—or sacrifice function. It’s all about layering and choosing washable pieces. Here’s what worked for me:

How to Create a “Pretty Bed” (That’s Dog-Friendly Too)

Building a bed that feels luxurious doesn’t have to cost a fortune—or sacrifice function. It’s all about layering and choosing washable pieces. Here’s what worked for me:

  • 1. Start with the Softest Sheets – Buttery soft, breathable and holds up to frequent washing plus it has wonderful deep pockets.
  • 2. Add a Cloudlike Duvet – crisp, timeless and surprisingly luxe.
  • 3. Pile on the Pillows – the secret to that “magazine cover” fullness. Don’t forget the pillow inserts, too!
  • 4. Top with Texture – a throw adds fuzziness and coziness (and hides paw prints in a pinch). Gus loves this pink one!
  • 5. Throw down a beautiful Rug to launch you into the day
  • 6. Top it off with a fun Accent Pillow and your Pup as the cherry on top!

A pretty bed is more than décor—it’s self-care. And yes, it’s possible to have both a chic, magazine-worthy space and a happy pup snuggled up right in the middle of it.

Here’s to layering, coziness, and letting life (and muddy paws) in. 🐾✨
