Hello, You!🎉My Blogging Debut

My Blogging Debut (With Gus, of Course)

Starting Something New at Fifty-Ish

I’ll be honest with you: I had no idea what I was getting myself into. When I decided to start a blog, I thought it would be as simple as typing words onto a page, hitting “publish,” and sending them into the world. What I didn’t realize was that blogging comes with its own universe of tools and language—WordPress, Canva, SEO, widgets, plugins, themes—the kind of stuff that makes you wonder if you need a college degree just to sign in.

But here’s the thing: I’ve spent years in retail, and if I’ve learned anything it’s how to adapt, figure things out, and keep moving forward. When the floor set changes overnight or when a product launches unexpectedly, you pivot. So here I am, pivoting into this new space with the same energy I’d bring to a busy Saturday on the sales floor—equal parts excited, exhausted, and ready to learn.

And then there’s Gus. He’s the real boss of this blog. Gus is my six-pound shadow, my loyal partner-in-crime, and my constant reminder that life is best when you nap often, chase squirrels, and make your opinions known. If you stick around, you’ll get to know Gus just as well as you know me. He’ll pop up in stories, photos, and probably try to hijack a few blog posts of his own.

My Mission⭐

So why am I here? Why now? At fifty-ish, I’m stepping into this chapter with a clear sense of what matters most. My mission is to create a vibrant, supportive, and fabulous space for women like me—women who are refined by experience, seasoned with wisdom, and still sparkling with curiosity.

I’m building this blog on three pillars that define the way I want to live and connect with others:

đŸ’Ș Health After 50

Health in our twenties looks different than health in our fifties. And that’s okay. In fact, it’s better. After 50, health isn’t about chasing perfection—it’s about finding balance, energy, and joy in how we feel each day.

For me, health means taking small, steady steps toward better habits. It’s walking with Gus even when it’s chilly outside. It’s choosing water over that second Diet Coke. It’s stretching my body before bed because I know I’ll feel better in the morning. And it’s also knowing when to indulge—because life is too short to skip the birthday cake.

Here, I’ll share reflections, routines, and reminders that help us all feel strong, vibrant, and grounded in this stage of life.

đŸ’” Wealth of Wisdom & Resources

Let’s be clear: wealth isn’t just about the numbers in a bank account (though financial security is definitely important). It’s also about the wealth of wisdom, knowledge, and perspective we’ve collected along the way.

After 50, we know how to read people better. We know how to prioritize. We know what’s worth our time and what isn’t. That wisdom is wealth. And so is the ability to take care of ourselves financially, emotionally, and spiritually.

I want this blog to be a space where we talk honestly about how we spend, save, and invest—not just money, but also our time and energy. Wealth is about building a legacy, protecting what matters, and making sure we live with dignity and confidence.

✹ Living Fabulously After 50

This is the pillar closest to my heart. Living fabulously after 50 isn’t about being glamorous 24/7 (though a little sparkle never hurts). It’s about creating a life that feels delightful. It’s about cozy blankets on the couch, the smell of a new candle in autumn, a good laugh with girlfriends, or the confidence that comes with finally knowing who you are.

For me, fabulous living is small luxuries: layering fuzzy pillows on the bed, setting a pretty table even for a weekday dinner, or pouring a glass of wine while Gus curls up next to me. It’s also the big adventures—traveling, exploring, trying something new (like, say, blogging!).

Fabulousness after 50 is about permission. Permission to wear bright lipstick. Permission to say no to things that drain you. Permission to say yes to joy.

Why Now?

Because these pillars aren’t just ideas—they’re needs.

  1. 1. Health matters now more than ever. Every choice we make now—every walk, every salad, every hour of rest—shapes the next decades of our lives. I don’t want to postpone caring for my body and soul.
  2. 2. Wealth is about legacy and freedom. After years of working hard, it’s time to be intentional about what I save, how I spend, and the value I place on my time. This isn’t just about money; it’s about creating security and freedom for the future.
  3. 3. Living fabulously is non-negotiable. Too often, we tell ourselves we’ll take that trip later, buy that dress for a “special occasion,” or start that hobby when life slows down. Well, life doesn’t always slow down—and I refuse to wait to enjoy it.
  4. 4. Because fifty-ish isn’t the end of anything—it’s the bold, brilliant beginning of something entirely new.
  5. 5. It’s all about learning and growing. Even when it makes my brain feel like it’s melting.

Let me tell you a little more about Gus. He’s small but mighty, with the kind of confidence only a little dog can carry. Gus has been through every part of this journey with me—watching me wrestle with blog templates, falling asleep on my lap while I brainstorm, and occasionally barking at the UPS guy in the middle of a brilliant idea.

He’s also a reminder of what I want this blog to feel like: comforting, playful, loyal, and full of personality. You’ll see him pop up in photos, stories, and probably as the occasional star of a post all his own. After all, Gus represents living fabulously in his own way—naps in the sun, chasing dreams (literally), and loving unconditionally.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning. I don’t know exactly where this blogging journey will take me, but I do know what I want it to include:

  • Honest conversations about health—physical, mental, and emotional.
  • Reflections on wealth—not just dollars, but the richness of a well-lived life.
  • Inspiration for living fabulously—through style, coziness, humor, and heart.
  • And of course, plenty of stories featuring Gus—because every fabulous life needs a furry mascot. đŸŸ
  • I hope this space will grow into more than just a blog. I hope it becomes a community—a Sisterhood of women who know the joy and challenges of this stage of life, who want to learn, laugh, and lift each other up.

Closing Thoughts

So, here we are. My blogging debut. A little scary, a little exciting, and absolutely the right time.

If you’re reading this, thank you for showing up. Thank you for being part of my new adventure. My hope is that you’ll find encouragement here, maybe a laugh, maybe a tip that makes your day a little brighter, or even just the comfort of knowing you’re not navigating this stage alone.

Fifty-ish is not the end of the story—it’s the beginning of one of the best chapters yet. And I’m thrilled to write it with you, Gus, and a whole lot of joy.

Cheers to health, wealth, and living fabulously after 50! đŸ„‚
