🌸 About Me & My Mission

I’ve spent most of my career in retail. If you’ve ever worked in that world, you know it’s equal parts exhausting and exhilarating. Floorsets at dawn, endless boxes to unpack, displays to style, customers to serve—it’s a world where you learn to think on your feet and smile even when you’re running on caffeine and grit.

Retail taught me resilience. It taught me creativity. It taught me how to connect with people. But over time, it also left me craving something more—something that would let me stretch beyond the aisles and registers.

Enter blogging.

Now, let me be clear: when I first decided to start a blog, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. WordPress, Canva, SEO, plugins, themes—it felt like learning a brand-new language. (And yes, there were tears, a few muttered swear words, and a lot of coffee along the way.) But something inside me knew this was right. This was my chance to create a space of my own. A space where my experiences, stories, humor, and heart could live.

And, of course, Gus was all in. Or rather, he was all in as long as there were naps, walks, and treats in between. He’s my sidekick, my comic relief, and my reminder to always find joy in the simple things.

🌟 My Mission

At fifty-ish, I’m not interested in reinventing myself into someone else—I’m interested in deepening into myself. My mission is to create a blog that feels like a cozy living room, a gathering place where women can show up exactly as they are and leave feeling a little lighter, brighter, and more inspired.

This mission is grounded in three pillars:

💪 Health: Thriving, Not Just Surviving

Health after 50 isn’t about chasing some impossible standard—it’s about thriving in the body and life we have today. For me, health is holistic. It’s not just diet and exercise, though those matter. It’s also sleep, mental clarity, spiritual grounding, and emotional balance.

I’ve learned that wellness in this stage of life is about small, consistent choices that add up over time. A morning walk with Gus. Choosing vegetables because I know they’ll make me feel better. Drinking water instead of grabbing that third Diet Coke (still a work in progress). Saying yes to rest when my body says slow down.

In this space, I’ll share not only my own health journey but also tips, research, and real-life practices that make wellness feel doable and joyful. Because being healthy at 50 and beyond isn’t about fighting age—it’s about embracing it with strength and grace.

💵 Wealth: Beyond the Dollar Signs

When I talk about wealth, I mean more than money (though let’s be honest, financial confidence is important at every age). Wealth to me is about the full picture: the resources we’ve built, the wisdom we’ve gained, and the perspective we’ve earned.

At this point in life, we understand value in a way we didn’t before. We know what’s worth spending money on and what isn’t. We know how precious our time is and how important it is to spend it wisely. We know that wealth includes relationships, experiences, and knowledge—things no bank account can hold.

On this blog, wealth will mean all of that: practical tips for managing finances after 50, yes, but also reflections on investing in ourselves, protecting our peace, and honoring the legacies we’re creating.

Wealth is about building stability and joy, not just for us but for the people we love.

✨ Living Fabulously After 50

And then there’s the fun part: fabulous living.

For me, living fabulously isn’t about perfection—it’s about joy. It’s about making life sparkle in big and small ways. It’s the coziness of layering fuzzy pillows on my bed. It’s buying a candle that makes the whole room smell like autumn. It’s planning a girls’ night, or laughing so hard with my sisterhood that tears roll down our cheeks.

It’s also about style. About still caring how we show up in the world. About wearing bright lipstick if we feel like it. About putting on an outfit that makes us walk taller. Fabulous living after 50 is about confidence. It’s about claiming our space, our joy, our humor, and our unapologetic fabulousness.

And yes, Gus is part of this pillar too. Because nothing says fabulous like a dog who knows he owns the couch, the house, and your heart.

No bio of mine would be complete without Gus. He’s small, scrappy, and endlessly entertaining. He’s also a teacher in his own right. From Gus, I’ve learned:

  • Rest is essential. (Especially in sunbeams.)
  • Play keeps you young.
  • Always let people know what you want.
  • Love fiercely and without apology.

If this blog has a mascot, it’s Gus. Because living fabulously means surrounding yourself with love, laughter, and maybe a squeaky toy or two.

Here’s what you can expect from me:

  • Authenticity. I’ll share the real stuff, not just the pretty stuff.
  • Encouragement. My goal is for you to leave here feeling a little lighter, a little brighter, and a little more inspired.
  • Practicality. Whether it’s a health tip, a wealth perspective, or a fabulous living idea, I’ll keep it doable and real.
  • Laughter. Because sometimes the only sane response to life’s challenges is to laugh it out.

So that’s me. Suzanne, fifty-ish, retail veteran, blogger-in-training, and Gus’s human. This blog is my mission, my outlet, and hopefully, your new favorite place to land.

It’s a space built on health, wealth, and fabulous living. It’s a space for stories and sisterhood. And it’s a space that believes life after 50 is not something to endure—it’s something to celebrate.🎉
